Mental Health Awareness

Governor Cox

Earlier this month you received an email and video message from Governor Cox announcing that state employees will soon have access to four additional hours of paid leave specifically related to mental health.

It’s important to understand that anxiety, stress, and other emotions are normal. However, when those feelings interfere with our personal and professional relationships, it’s important for us to step back and explore those emotions further. That could mean taking a break and doing something you enjoy or talking to someone about what you’re feeling.

At Commerce, we’re committed to making a healthy and safe work environment for all employees. This benefit, which will go into effect Jan 2022, is accessible to all benefit eligible employees to use for their mental well being. If you feel you need to take some time for your mental health, please talk to your supervisor to get approval to use these hours.

There are several mental health resources already available to Commerce employees. A list of resources can be found here.
