The division I work in is…

Division of Public Utilities

I have worked at Commerce for…

I have worked at Commerce for 11 years and 8 months. Prior to working for Commerce, I worked at Salt Lake County Treasurer’s office for about 6 years as a cashier supervisor.

At Commerce, my job is…

At Commerce, my job is to manage the Customer Service section within the Division of Public Utilities, which entails performing the managerial duties as well as support and coverage for my team and the Division. My section primarily facilitates informal complaints received between regulated public utilities and its customers.

The best thing about working for the Utah Department of Commerce is…

The best thing about working for the Utah Department of Commerce is currently having the option to be able to telework. I believe this is important because not only does it save employees a lot of commute times, mileage, and money but most importantly, it gives us life/family balance and more schedule flexibility.

I have professionally grown working in my division because…

I have professionally grown working in my division because of the gained experience over the years of working with different types of employee and customer dynamics. It goes with the saying that the hardest part of leadership is managing people. The experience has helped me mature and become more discerning. I believe that I need to be the example first to gain a team with an exceptional work ethics, skills, amicability, task prioritization and adaptability.

During my workday I could not live without….

During my workday, I could not live without the comfort of my workspace. I believe that having a clean, organized, and comfortable workspace environment allows me to accomplish my duties well.

Outside of the office I like to…

Outside of the office, I used to spend most of my weekends in the outdoors hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and camping with friends. Since I am now a mom of a 6 yr. old son and a 3 yr. old daughter and working fulltime, the time constraints has not afforded me the ability to do much of anything outdoors as of late.

My superpower is…

I think my superpower is becoming a mom and what an honor that is. Moms are amazing where we come out of the birthing suite not just as a mom, but as someone who is able to perform extraordinary tasks in a single bound. Not to mention everything that moms do day in day out to hold our families together is quite remarkable in my opinion.
